They're all missing the point!!

I swear!! EVerybody is missing the point about Bush and his immigration policy. Nobody grasps it. I haven't heard a single person out there with an explanation that makes sense on all fronts.

I honestly think Bush knows that the immigration problem will not be solved overnight - or within the next two years. He is taking this approach because in all truth, no matter what he wants to do or says he's going to do, he's not going to be able to do much more than what he's saying he will do. Right now, he's talking about a moderate fight in order to get done what is possible, and he's leaving the spot open for a more conservative (and more correct) candidate to win in Congressional elections and the '08 Presidential election.

He could take the House Bill and run with it, but the Senate will not pass it no matter what. If the Senate would not pass Social Security reform, why would they pass the House's immigration bill? Bush, Republicans, and hard-core Conservatives alike ALL NEED there to be a few more Republicans in Congress. Then we can pass Social Security reform and real immigration reform/enforcement. The moderate, idiotic Republicans like Lincoln Chafee would jump on the bandwagon and things would happen. Nothing will happen until 2008 or 2009, though. Bush is building credibility with people outside of his party because it's all he can do right now. Conservatives will vote Republican. His stance will encourage moderates to vote Republican.

My message to Conservatives (myself included): BE PATIENT!! Things take time, especially in Washington D.C. Vote Republican and you will get what you want.

Because of Bush's present stance we can say, "Bush did a lot of things right, and he did some things wrong, too. Where Bush went wrong, ::fill in Candidate's name here:: will go right." Republicans have to keep winning before they can continue correcting the mistakes of the past.

What is Bush doing about that volcano in Indonesia?

Is anyone taking bets on whether or not Bush will be blamed for some or all of the death toll if that volcano in Indonesia turns the island into another Pompeii? If Churchill Downs weren't dark today, I might trek through the shady hood surrounding the track and place some bets. FOX is reporting this much so far, now you decide.

Don't forget about the devastating environmental consequences that the world community will undoubtedly suffer as a result of Bush's incompetence. America must bear the burden of this impending disaster, seeing as how our environmental policies will certainly prove to be the main cause of the impending disaster. Al Gore should organize his telethon now to raise money for the victims of America's arrogance. Yeah, I'd love to see how much dough he could raise. Although, that may be one awesome solution to the how to stop Billary question.

Iran is now the biggest problem-causer in the middle-east.

If this report, a translation of Iraqi daily az-Zaman, is true then the United States definitely needs to take some serious military action in Iran to, at the very least, stop Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps from distributing weapons to al-Qaida in Iraq. I wonder if that sort of distraction would result in reduced explosions in Iraq. I suppose it would be difficult to conduct a small military strike in Iran, though. Oh well, I guess we'll have to go full-scale!!

Thanks to Iraq the Model for bringing me this news.

NSA Garbage

The national debate on this topic is so elementary. I wish people on television would initiate a serious discussion of the facts, laws, and potential consequences of this situation. If only Congress would publicly grasp the facts surrounding this case. They understand it, they just act like they don't. Senator Lindsey Graham (REPUBLICAN-SC) said, "The idea of collecting millions or thousands of phone numbers -- how does that fit into following the enemy?" What an idiot!! I hope he gets voted out of office for saying something so ridiculous. You know the other guys - Durbin, Leahy. Michelle Malkin had a great "Meet the NSA" video piece on Hot Air Friday. Everyone should watch it, especially Senators.

We're Hatfields and McCoys, not Democrats and Republicans

This whole indictment of Governor Ernie Fletcher thing is ridiculous. This is the kind of crap that makes the American people think of Kentuckians as a bunch of Hatfields and McCoys feuding over God knows what. It is so childish! I wish the Governor would come out and stop being so nice about it.

Bush Is Weak On The Border For A Reason

Republicans and Democrats alike are weak on the border. Conservatives seem baffled by Bush’s refusal to recognize their needs as he did with the Harriet Miers situation. To understand why Bush is weak on this, though, you have to summarize where the nation is as a whole right now politically. For Democrats, the border is a matter of self-preservation. They have lost so many elections and so much power over the last twelve years that they are starting to get truly desperate. The bad news for Democrats is that they have a very difficult road ahead of them if they want to use the border for their own good. For currently denoted “illegal aliens” to ever help Democrats, the illegals have to be able to vote. In order to be able to vote, Democrats would have to push transparent citizenship requirement modifications through a Republican-controlled Congress. For Republicans, the border is also a matter of votes. That should be no surprise as we are talking about politicians, aren’t we? However, Republicans have no reason to be as desperate as Democrats about this. Not yet anyway. Conservative Republicans want serious immigration policy reform and they want a secure, controlled border along with a good economy and a good fight against terrorism. Not-so-conservative Republicans are simply afraid of what might happen to the country if Democrats gain power. Neither one of these factions will vote for a Democrat any time soon.If Bush remains weak on the illegal immigration issue there will be a conservative rally to polling stations in 2006 and probably 2008 as well. In staying weak on the conservative’s problem, Bush leaves an opening for fellow Republicans to capitalize on his low poll numbers (and their inability to ignore the polls) by being more conservative than the President. Republicans can simultaneously distance themselves from President Bush and appeal to conservatives, provided, of course, that they stay strong on terrorism, etc. Terrorism won’t change anyone’s mind at this point and Social Security probably will not, but border protection can. This should result in the retention of the Republican majority and maybe even Congressional gains.Voter turnout has always been a concern. The combined force of the moderate Republicans’ fear of Democrats and the conservatives’ flight to the polls to fight for border protection will save the Republican majority.

However, Bush’s position is not that simple. His position affects conservatives negatively – for a positive net result. It also appeals to some people, though. His guest worker provisions appeal to some people enough to draw them to the GOP. Some business owners and certainly many newly naturalized citizens will remember Bush’s compassionate conservatism the next (or first) time they vote. Bush’s well-publicized stance on this issue tells some people that the Republicans are the nice guys. They may even gather, “nice and smart” from Bush’s ideas. Bush can make gains for the GOP in the Hispanic community with this position, just like he already has with his family values and pro-life stances. This can result in new wins in new districts for Republicans.Regardless of all this, though, there is a broader goal in mind for George W. Bush. Everybody wants a new immigrant’s first vote, but for President Bush, there is a much deeper issue. The Democrats are getting desperate right now. They were desperate in the 2004 Kerry campaign, obviously, but they’re getting more desperate now. If Bush can help the GOP defeat the Democrats a couple more times in congressional elections and the 2008 Presidential race, he is going to force Democrats to either change their tune or kill themselves off. Republicans can beat Democrats by being more conservative than the President while Bush changes hearts and minds to draw people to the GOP. If these defeats occur a couple more times, Democrats will either change direction and become more conservative or dig their own graves. George W. Bush believes that would be the best thing for the country, and that is what he is concerned about. He wants what is best for the country long-term.Democrats can either join the war on terror, drop their angry adolescent understanding of terrorist surveillance, get real on border security, and help fix social insecurity, or they can go home and watch on television as the Republicans do it all and take all the credit for it. Sadly for Democrats, they believe media polls should dictate public policy. Bush’s low approval ratings have made liberals more liberal, and that will not help them win elections. Liberals have to mask their liberalism to get elected. They are too arrogant to even consider the possibility that Bush’s approval rating may be higher if he were more conservative. All conservatives have to do to get elected is be conservative and ignore media attacks.

Bush has employed the self-sacrificial technique of making himself the object of Americans’ anger because he believes that it will cause the best thing for the nation long-term. He is using media polls and his low approval ratings against Democrats. We will see how it works in the years to come.

ACLU Warns Law Enforcement May Result in Racial Profiling.

I'm so sick of the ACLU I could puke. For those of you who don't know, in past years the Kentucky Derby was inevitably followed by people cruising up and down Broadway, a mile or so from Churchill Downs, showing off their cars, their bling, socializing and so on. Of course, on a day like that, the police often turn a blind eye to public alcohol consumption and probably even ignore their sense of smell when they sniff out Kentucky's number one cash crop - marijuana. I guess they're busy with the ridiculous amounts of traffic moving around, trying to help people avoid accidents, filing accident reports, and trying to help people keep their tempers from flaring. Well, last year the Derby cruising resulted in people assaulting each other and at least one murder. So, in an attempt to prevent people from killing each other this Saturday the city banned the cruising tradition. Police are supposedly strictly enforcing the ban.

Guess what? The ACLU is now warning that enforcement of the ban may result in racial profiling. I don't understand this. NOBODY is allowed to cruise on Broadway. If you're white, you will be ticketed. If you're black, you will be ticketed. If you fight the police, you will go to jail - no matter what color you are.

Every time there's a murder in the West End, the Reverand Louis Coleman and Christopher 2X run to the scene and get news cameras in their faces and say that the city needs to do more to prevent the murders from happening. This year, the city is doing something to try to prevent people from killing each other and the ACLU is passing out racial profiling information packets complete with forms that can be easily filled out and filed with the Louisville ACLU branch. It strikes me that the ACLU doesn't want crime to be reduced and they don't want anybody to be happy because then they would be out of a job.

This Will Change the World.

Amazing article. MUST READ if you care about anything at all.

I will not link things on here unless they are absolutely must reads, and this one is. Limbaugh apparently talked about it at length today, but I didn't hear most of his discussion. I think Medved had Shelby Steele on his show. There was a groundbreaking article in opinionjournal.com today by Shelby Steele. He has a book that is coming out soon or just came out called "White Guilt." I'm telling you, this article and this book are going to change the world. Do yourself a favor and at least read the article.

Before this article clarified things for me, my understanding of this topic was blotchy. I'm proud of myself, though, for even being on the right track. It seems to me that this topic kind of came out of nowhere in the national discussion. Then again, I'm sort of out of the loop.

Here's the link: Must read Shelby Steele article.

I love open-minded people.

This is what happened when I tried to join some myspace group for people who care about Kentucky. It was started by some *name deleted* person, but I can't find the group again because her page is unintelligible. It is literally difficult to make out even a single word on the page because of the photographic noise in the background. The group said something about wanting to be a state senator or working for one or something. Here's the exchange:

ok. so your group is for people who care about kentucky and are democrats. that's cool. that way you all can agree with each other all day and you'll never be questioned or challenged and you'll never have to hone your arguing skills. i guess republicans are the only ones who should be questioned. sorry, didn't mean to "ruin" your blog group. how did you feel about the chinese president being questioned today?

Date: Apr 25, 2006 5:48 AM Flag spam/abuse. [ ? ]

I dont mind being questioned hell who you voted as president is horrible at speaking and a complete ass and I do care about ky it's you silly ass republicans who need to start your own group. cause I want to help the poor people not make the rich more rich and keep people down.
That's just lovely, isn't it? You just have to love "open-minded" people who "care." I don't belong in a group of people who "care" because who I "voted as president is horrible at speaking and a complete ass." Cool. I'm a silly ass who wants to keep people down.

This is what her most current blog says:

I hate republicans nothing ever makes sense when there mouths open all I hear is blah blah blah and guess what you republicans make less money then democrats because karma is a b@#^% and guess what democrats actually give money to causes to help people and republicans just get richer as the poor get poorer no I will not take anymore of this it's ridiculous have damn common sense I love my community and would do anything to help someone

Nice again! I guess Democrats are better than Republicans because they make more money? And that's because "karma is a b$#@^." Okay. That makes a lot of sense.

On a serious note, I truly feel for "poor people." ( I don't know if the girl's talking about homeless people, or the middle class, lower middle class, or what - but it doesn't matter)
You have to remember something, though. Aside from people who steal money (like the gov't, for example) and people who inherit money, most "rich people" are rich because they are smart with their money. They take care of it. They don't waste it. They're good with it and they know how to earn it. You can't hold that against them, can you? AND many of them give a ton of money away to causes they believe in - be it, to church, to a mission to help "poor people," to 527's they like (george soros), etc. You can't fault them for that, can you? So what are people so angry about regarding "rich people?" It sounds to me like they're mad because THEY ARE NOT RICH. That is called jealousy. It is wrong and it only hurts the person with the jealousy. You have to be happy with what you have and take good care of it.

One other thing. A lot of poor people are poor because they don't know how to handle money. That's why most poor people who win the lottery or win some huge financial settlement lawsuit or something like that where all of a sudden they have a ton of money - most of them are broke again within five years. Look it up. Please. They're broke because they don't do smart things with their money. I know this doesn't apply to everyone but it's a good point to think about. Plus, nowhere in the constitution does it say that we have to help people. It is the right thing to do - to help people and teach them how to succeed, but not doing so is a legal choice.

Solution? I don't know exactly - but I do know that public schools could really help out an entire generation of people right now if they would maybe divert some time away from sex training classes and socialism 101 and teach people something about how to succeed IN THIS LIFE and IN THIS COUNTRY.

You can't simultaneously wish for wealth, condemn wealth, try to destroy the system that creates wealth, and expect to be taken seriously.

The beginning of a beautiful friendship.

I'm going to start you all off by moving some posts that I made on my Myspace account over here. I think this is the beginning of a beautiful friendship. Enjoy!

Supreme Court declares U.S. Constitution unconstitutional!! I just wrote a check to the federal government for like $4,500. It's okay, though. I feel pretty good about it b/c i know the idiots in congress need that money to pay for the healthcare and education of millions of people who aren't citizens of this country and aren't here legally. Meanwhile, I'm struggling to pay for my own education and whatnot, but who cares? I already vote!! I don't need to be convinced of anything!!

vive le riots!

Everybody must now observe the wisdom found on thepeoplescube.com. What a genius website!

You know, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad reminds me of Hitler a whole lot more than Bush, Cheney, Powell, Rice, Rumsfeld, and Halliburton combined. Feel me?

che: THE revolutionary

To be like Che we must:

  1. Disassociate ourselves from our trust-fund money and middle-class parents.
  2. Attain the "I've been in the Amazon jungle for six weeks" look. Those clean clothes from Old Navy aren't going to cut it. Rush out and buy a Che T-shirt first. A bedraggled combat jacket is also essential. Heavy boots are a must.
  3. You've had your last wash buddy! From now on all forms of personal hygiene are to be abandoned. Haircuts are a thing of the past.
  4. Induce Mom and Pop to buy an old, beat-up Volvo (something from the mid 80s should do). Your fellow revolutionaries dare not see you in the Lexus or the Infinity.
  5. If you have to leave the revolution (campus) for a trip home to Mom and Pop (capitalist pigs), try sleeping in the basement or outside with the trash. Your revolutionary look must be kept up at all costs.
  6. Endear yourself to your fellow revolutionaries by making up tall stories of a hard life under capitalist oppression. Something along the lines of "my father was small turd farmer in Nebraska until the Republicans ruined everything."
  7. Visit Starbucks not more than once a week. That stuff is expensive; you're supposed to behave like a common peasant.
  8. Never be seen leaving or entering the bank.
  9. Diss America.
  10. Develop a mild dependence on recreational substances.
  11. Exhibit utter disdain for large corporations, such as, McDonalds (until you seek employment from one, in about five years). If Che were alive today he would be actively fighting against such an "enemy."
  12. Your Internet access is strictly for gathering information on the revolution.
  13. While on spring break, practice revolutionary skills. Try to collapse the local government with your band of revolutionaries (drunken buffoons). Remember to bring MasterCard or Visa in case of bail.

Not buying gas won't do anything.

Not buying gas will not do anything except make you have to buy some the next day.

The following is in response to a post I saw somewhere about not buying gas every friday for a year. Bottom line: good intentions, zero effectiveness. I agree with everyone being frugal regarding their gasoline usage, but that goes along with everything else. We should be frugal with our money, food, etc. for our personal health and our personal economies, not to impact the world economy b/c it won't do anything. What I'm about to say is really important to understand.

This not buying gas on friday thing will not sufficiently lower oil demand in order to bring the price of oil/gas down.

The best thing we can do is to work on the other side of the equation. If we can encourage Congress to allow oil companies to increase oil SUPPLY, gas prices WILL come down. If there's more gas out there, each gallon can be sold for cheaper. That means the oil producers need to be allowed to hit up the Gulf Coast, the Alaskan oil field, and whatever other oil we can find.

Greed is not the issue, except maybe in the case of the idiots in Congress.

In any event, nothing substantial will happen regarding this issue in the next five years. This is a problem that could have been avoided if Congress would have allowed oil companies to expand production twenty years ago, or even ten. The world population has grown, chinese and indian economies have grown dramatically due to the benefits of capitalism, yet our idiotic Congress thinks that a stagnant supply of oil will sufficiently supply the world economy's energy needs! Idiots! This could have been fixed twenty years ago.

Demand won't change due to "don't buy gas fridays." We have to work on SUPPLY. That means pressuring everyone in every legislature to allow the oil companies to do what they have wanted to do for thirty years. Let them expand production, so we don't have to pay five dollars per gallon of gas. Hydrogen/alternative fuel sources are at least twenty years from being mainstream. If you want to screw the oil companies - do it then! Until that point, increasing SUPPLY is the only way to bring the price per gallon down.

Finally, please notice something. The american "environmentalists" who like to raise hell about expanded drilling haven't said jack about mexico's plan to hit the gulf. Ted Kennedy would have been in front of every television camera within two miles of his office (translate: his favorite seat at the bar) if an American company would have announced such a proposal. I understand that Kennedy doesn't represent Mexico, but you have to understand that "the environment" is just a vessel that the "environmentalists" use to hit their real enemies - and those are America, Capitalism, successful businesses, and Freedom. "Protecting the environment" is just a disguised way of saying "destroying america as we know it." As crazy as Mexico is, their right about this one!
